[Hybrid Sales Down ][Obama Increases Fuel Standards]
Right now, President Obama is pushing the emission standards of new vehicles out the roof. This should help drive up domestic sales to pull them out of the gutter, right? Come on Obama! Hybrid’s don’t sale! The way to drive up sales is to make cars people want to buy. There’s a novel idea! I predict that within a few years not only will Toyota and Honda be destroying what’s left of domestic automakers, but they will be doing so with a line-up of not so efficient, small vehicles. I believe a Toyota Hummer will be a huge seller in the near future. Americans want big vehicles, or fast cars, neither of which they are willing to give up for a 39 MPG Smart Car that looks like tin foil in a car wreck.
I can already anticipate the left’s response of “Selfish Americans just need to stop killing the environment”. Ok, well I’m not going to argue greenhouse gasses with you. What I am going to argue is from a business perspective. If we are propping up GM, basically running them, and then enacting legislation that will further strain what little business they have, that’s just flat out stupid. Since their business isn’t going to increase, will we just fund the company indefinitely just to save those few jobs? At this point, I say buy foreign. At least they make a viable product.
As President Obama and former Vice-President Obama had a show down, new poll numbers arose from CNN. It appears Cheney’s approval rating has risen 8 points since he left office. Are Americans warming up to that evil Bush administration? Let me know your thoughts.
